I remember when the only definition in the dictionary for it was "happy", but most people were using it to refer to homosexuals by the time I first encountered it.
Being kids, my comrades and I didn't really know what the new definition of gay was, so we'd call everything gay, thinking that we were using a naughty word.
Now, I, and many others of my generation, use the word gay in three ways.
Def. 1: Happy
Def. 2: Homosexual
Def. 3: Something lame or irregular, nonconforming, "That is so gay! I can't believe your car was stolen!"

Yes... I also remember when they referred to the 1890's as the Gay 90's and couldn't wait till they came around again to see if they called them the same thing.... by then it wasn't to be.

i do remember like way back. i dont call people gay for any reason at all because they think about the wrong way. but think about if ur gay as in the bisexual way u are happy so therefore ur gay.

I never remember that at all or I can not relate to when someone said this in a sentence. But it is in the dictionary as joyous and lively, merry, bright, brilliant! Go figure.
