Where do you think the Country would be if John F. Kennedy would have lived?

Hard to say. But presumably, Kennedy would have been more cautious than LBJ regarding Vietnam. I doubt he would have gone the route of the Tonkin Gulf Resolution and the subsequent massive escalation, but that's hard to prove. Without the massive escalation, no protests, no hippie-dippie idiots, etc.

It would have been very different.

If you haven't seen this Star Trek episode, watch it: "City on the Edge of Forever".

By going through a time portal, a member of the starship Enterprise inadvertently alters history by saving a woman who otherwise would have died. As a result, the entire future of mankind is changed, and the Enterprise disappears from orbit.... because in this new reality, it had never been built.

If JFK had lived, we might not be living in a world free of the former Soviet threat. One change can cause another. The new set of circumstances might have led to disastrous consequences.

People might wistfully imagine some wonderful future that JFK would have helped create, some magical Camelot, but I think destiny knows what it's doing. Some things were meant to be.

Since Kennedy was a proponent of the mutually assured destruction theory of the cold war it's quite likely the remainder of the human race would probably be hiding out in caves somewhere in the hills of Afghanistan.
