Why would anyone want to? Unless "poke" is a euphemism for something else, then NO! That's just wrong.

Bobo is right about the poison spurs but you'd be lucky to see a platypus, let alone get close to poke one. If you did, it wouldn't attack; those spurs would only be a problem if you picked one up

They have venom glands on their hind legs that can envenomate you if you're not careful. I wouldn't poke'em.
