Celebrities adopting...?

Question

Do you think celebrities adopting children is just a fad and that they are doing it for publicity?
Or it is because they don't want to go through what it takes to actually have children i.e. pregnancy etc?
Or is it that they genuinely do care about these children?

It's a fad.

I mean I'm sure there's a time they actually wanted to do something nice, like adopt a child but anymore so I think these kids are like pets to them. They get the celebs in the news...then they neglect the kids....

I don't think it Jolies case it's a pregnancy case, it think it's an attention thing. In the meantime, she's neglecting her ethiopeans while trying to save the world. >.< Why can't we just worry about out own damn country?

In order to answer your question as accurately as possible, I would have to know personally and intimately the celebrities who are adopting. There is no way of knowing why anyone has children through pregnancy or adoption. Celebrities must go through the same rigorous guidelines for adoption that we "regular Joes" do. Unless you're Joan Crawford and can just buy children.

Who knows the heart of another person----really? And would you rob anyone of the joys of having children? If an unwanted, abandoned, or orphaned child finds a loving home with two parents who will love and take care of them for life, what does it matter?

Even if the adoption started out as a "publicity" stunt---there is no way a person can hold a child in their arms, in their hearts, and in their lives for long without becoming a part of their souls.

Give the celebs a break. They're adopting children; being human; wanting lives, love, and family. What's wrong with that?

Not every celebrity in the world is adopting children. I think only the ones who care are. I think they really care about the children, too. After all, it's silly for someone who's already very rich to adopt children that will take a lifetime of commitment just for a few month's publicity.

For a celebrity, they may have any number of reasons to not have a baby the natural way. One thing that they can afford to do that many people can't is adopt from foreign nations. That's one reason I'm so glad to see Angelina Jolie adopt from those foreign countries; she's got the money to do it, and obviously has a heart for these children, and I'm glad she's going for it.

I think some people do it for publicity. But then you hear about cases like Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, I never even knew they adopted children.
I think celebrities schedule c-sections (Britney Spears) because they dont want to deal with child brith. The pregnancy part is all fine and great because every news magazine wants to see the "bump" but when it comes to labor the schedule the delievery and the whole hospital for that matter.
I think other celebrities that adopt really care about the children- I hate to be cliche but I think Angelina Jolie is really sincere about loving her 2 adopted children and adopting more.

I'm sure it is for two reasons:

1. The fad...Look how many celebs went out and bought small dogs to tote around because Paris had one.

2. They do not want to wreck their bodys by having children since their career depends on the way they look.


I think Brad and Angelina are crazy for already wanting to adopt another child. That means they would have 3 infants on top of one 4 year old. Sure they can afford it, but how much love can those kids get from two superstar parents who are always on the go?

I think its a bit of everything, its a way for them to get into the public eye more then they are for adopting a child but I also think they don't want children through pregnany because it may ruin their figure, interfer with their work or they just don't like the idea of it.

Its not like the actually look after the children anyway so it doesn't matter how many they have, they just get a nanny to look after them whilst they go from a-z

A fad and don't want to do the pregnancy thing for sure. Celebrates in Hollywood been doing it for years, you should read or watch the film Mommy Dearest. It's about Joan Crawfords adopted Daughter, she had a horrid life with one of Hollywoods legends.

I think some celevs care about the children but alot of them just dont want to go through pregnancy because of the strech marks and everything [like Angelina Jolie-that didn't work right?!?!] I don't really think it is for the publicity, but it could be

For some celebrities it is truly about giving a child a good home. For other celebrities it is a publicity stunt with responsibility of paying for boarding school. And, for those conceded female celebrities it is about having a children without risking their "girlish" figure. So, it is a little of all everything.

I think they want the kids. Their reasons, I don't know...probably a combination of things, love, raising awareness, not wanting to give up time from work to be pregnant, etc. I don't think it is the publicity so much...they don't take the kids for photo shoots too often. But who knows, the gossip is enough. I'm sure they love those kids. Only cruel people would adopt a child that they don't want.
