If you are going to have a friend repair your manifold, I think you should get one from a salvage yard. Yours can be welded, if your friend does not know how to weld, have him remove it and take it to a welding shop. Cost about $25.00
A cracked manifold is just that, a crack in your manifold.
Good Luck

A manifold bolts onto the engine block. The exhaust manifold is made of cast iron, collects exhaust gasses from the individual cylinders and channels the exhaust gasses to the exhaust pipe, then muffler, then out the tail pipe.
If it were me, I would have the manifold replaced. A crack could allow exhaust gas to leak into the engine compartment then into the passenger compartment.
A crack could allow cold air in, which could cause damage to heads or valves.

Repairing a manifold is a bad idea. Get a new one or at very least a good one from a salvage yard.

Take your car to a show that welds. Most muffler shops weld. Should be under $100.
