Tell them you have a hang over! That works well. You won't have go into work the day after that too.

Oh whoa there are millions of excuses:
Someone close to you died or a pet.
Accidental ran over your dog.
Doctor left a message the night before confirming an appointment.
Bad diarrhea/vomiting.
Sister (or friend) is going into labor and husband is out of town so you need to drive her to the hospital.
Someone in your family had a heart attack.
Neighbor died
Undergoing a personal and embarrassing medical procedure.
You need to drive your parents to the airport.
Sprained your ankle.
You have pink eye.
Your dog/cat is gave or is in the process of giving birth.
A water pipe is your house broke and it flooded your home.
You were mugged coming home last night and because of the scare you are an emotional wreck.
The FBI and SWAT team came to your neighbors house, apparently they had been trafficking drugs and selling them and the SWAT team blocked your drive way and you can't get out.
These are just some ideas..
Good luck with getting out of work!

If you don't call in sick too often, you can just say you got a stomach bug or somthing(must be something you ate). If you have run out illnesses then you could call in dead. Or maybe say you were in a car crash last night so you have a broken something or other and really bad whiplash. Or you could say you are pregnant, if you are a bloke, you would probably get loads of time off if you could convince them it was true.

car won't start...think it's the alternator and you can't get a ride.
only use that if you live far from work or they may offer to come pick you up. or you could tell them that your girlfriend-friend-mother broke their foot and you have to take them to the hospital and help them get around for a day or two. my boyfriend used that one yesterday, actually! my friend called in drunk one day and they told him that he could just stay home. i called in once because there was a house on fire on my street and they had both sides blocked off and they wouldn't let ANYONE in or out. it's so believable, who could make that one up? good luck!

Call in sick. Back aches are primo (no proof required) and migraines work too (same reason). Don't claim anything that will require treatment, or you'll spend your stolen day in the doc's office.

I would be ticked off at you if I got called in on my day off to work for you because you didn't feel like working your lazy butt off. Some day you may need a day off for something real and it will be harder to get it off. You don't jerk around your boss you are jerking around your co workers. I'M LEAVING MY PHONE, OFF THE HOOK,JUST IN CASE
