White is considered sanitary
that is why they were awhite dr. coats as well

I went to three hospitals 2 years ago because of a mysterious back injury and the walls were light beige, periwinkle blue and yellow. I don't recall seeing "everything" white.

White is a very neutral color. But you don't see white anymore in most hospital. They started to use different variety of colors to make the atmospher like home and therapeutic.

Some do off-white or a very light beige because it is said to calm nerves.

i believe they paint it white for sanitary reasons, so they could keep it clean and to easily see the mess, or if it their are any blood on the floor of wall they can easily clean it or even worse.
