Of the four or five losers I knew, these were the three common factors. Besides when they lie about military service, such as being (ex-)Navy SEAL, Marine RECON, Army Ranger/Green Beret, or Delta Force; they also lie about Mixed Martial Arts training with Ken Shamrock or Tito Ortiz, or go even further and say they are a "cage fighter". They also lie about experiancing a close personal death, such as a wife, girlfriend or fiance.

I'm sure it's obvious...their compensating because they're losers...thereby making them more of a loser when people figure out they lie all the time. And just in case anyone wonders...I really was in the NAVY. Nuclear Machinist Mate 2nd class. E5. Worked on steam pipe and valves for the nuclear reactor. I just wanted to clear that up in case anyone read my profile and thought I was lying about it too.

They're using the Xbox as the basis for the stories that they're hoping to use when going Wedding Crashing? Honestly, they're probably just trying to one-up (1up?) each other's fantasies because talking about what they really do is just too depressingly boring.

Of course, depressingly boring is how my black-belt Iraq-vet brother-in-law frames most of his time in the army, particularly when he started herding recruits. Same with my father in law and one of the guys I went to university with. What I've consistently seen is that if they're not telling stories about unusual disciplinary action, gross incompetence in the underqualified chain of command or people falling overboard (navy), then they're probably not telling stories from actual military service. Unless they're talking about local girls in foreign locales -- but my in-laws don't tell those stories.

Because they have low self esteem and are trying to make them selves look better. They probably didn't accomplish anything worthwhile while in the service.
