Using laptops. Live in country. Using directway. Still very slow and often loses satellite. Husband has company intranet & internet programs he must use but directway will not work due to security issues. When he connects thru the landline it times out before he has completed his work to be downloade. What can we do. Tried the internet card but doesn't help at our home but does help in town.

Please, only real answers. Have called customer service, use Directway. And moving is not a real option to consider. It's slow, loses satellite reception often. Takes forever to download.

There is no way to speed up Directway/Hughsnet. As you know it goes down all the time and even on bright clear blue sunny days. Don't even bother to call them because their way to test your internet is to go to google.com. plus you can't understand them. This is the support you get after spending hours on the phone. Don't bother to email them because they will not reply. When it goes down just forget about it for an hour. It should come back up. That's my luck is that it goes down all the time but comes back up. Others it just goes down and stays down.

If you have contacted them don't let them tell you it's your computer. If you have virus protection and a spyware cleaner you should be good. I FORMATTED my hard drive and reloaded it
fresh and it was still slow.

The only suggestion I can think of is this satellite provider,
http://www.wildblue.com/ I don't know how the service is and it's not available in all areas. Worth a try I guess.

Nothing. Be patient and wait or move to the city. You have a lot of benefits of country living. You can't have it all. You want the fast pace and hustle and bustle of the city. Move. Seriously,be patient, they will get to you. Use that as an excuse to visit a library or some other public place with fast access when you have something really important you need to do.

Move. Seriously. We had to do that. My husband had the chance to work at home but only if he had DSL. After many calls & letters to our local phone company, we learned they simply weren't going to put in DSL for at least a few years. So we moved into town and got DSL 2 months ago. You can try contacting your phone company. A petition signed by your neighbors may help. Good luck.

well try calling your customer service and tell them your problem. if that doesnt help then hold your laptop while riding the bull and see if that speeds up the process.

Move to the city. If this is not an option, stop complaining and deal with it..
