What you should have done was taken off your shirt and offered a visual presentation. Then offer to provide yourself as spare parts...save the company millions! You would have been promoted then.

You absolutely don't have a lawsuit there. That was completely unprofessional. No boss wants someone working for them that has no self discipline. Now a good manager would have reprimanded you for such an action, but you were with clients as well, so he had to do what he had to do to save face in front of them, or these clients would not have taken the company seriously. I don't know how old you are, and take no offense to this statement, but it sounds as though you need to grow up a bit. That type of behavior in the environment you descried is absolutely inappropriate. I don't know why all the women here feel that they are offended by that word, men have nipples too. Sounds like some of the women that answered you question need to grow up too.

You do not have grounds to sue, the company may lose business or a client as a result of your behavior. And you haven't been fired yet. I would think that your best course of action at this point is to approach your boss in a one-on-one meeting, apologize for your actions and ask if there is anything you can do to clean up the situation. He may feel a letter of apology from you to the client may help salvage the project, maybe not. Depends on the client and their reaction to your actions.

I don’t think that you have a lawsuit on your hands because looking at it form your bosses point of view you were acting very unprofessional. Not to burst your bubble or anything it’s just that I think that you may have embarrassed him/her by acting like that. What you do reflects on your boss whether you see it that way or not, I know that first hand weather it is something good or something bad. Believe me I worked for a colon and rectal surgeon and if I laughed at the word poop every time I herd it, I would be fired. And just imagine having to answer the phones all day at a rectal surgeons office .you wouldn’t believe all the funny thing I here on a daily basis. Anyways I hope that I may have provided you with a good answer.

Unfortunately I would have to say that your response was inappropriate, in this day and age of "sexual harrasement" crazed people; that could be construed by some as unprofessional behavior. And being a woman I would have been embarrased and uncomforatable with that response. Sorry, I know that is probably not the popular answer but being in a management position, I can see where there might be trouble there.

I didn't get your age but if you are important enough to be in front of everyone telling them about "your" project and you start laughing because you said 'nipple' ha ha grow up. And if you want to know if you have a lawsuit go slip on a puddle of water at a store and get over it.

you are lame -- this was my answer to the other fake / lame question you just posted and deleted -- message to you is still the same: Seriously man, grow up
Yes it was totally inappropriate, immature and unprofessional.
Hopefully you will be a man (not a lame guy that gets mad at the company / boss) and take this as a good learning lesson and leave the job with more dignity that you had messing around and bothering other employees.

It certainly was inappropriate and childish.
It would have been best to just excuse yourself to the mens room or some place and compose yourself. Don't think you should have been fired over it, but I can see their point since I'm assuming "nipple" will come up frequently in your line of work. They can't have you constantly disrupting the meetings.

it probably wasnt appropriate to do that in front of clients, but i work in the oil and gas field and deal with the word nipple quite a bit, it always makes me feel kinda weird.
i have never burst out laughing though, i dont think you should lose your job over it.

You acted in an inappropriate manner in a business environment. Your laughter may have made associates uncomfortable.
The word, especially when used in the context of a piece of pipe, should not have been offensive. It was your reaction that was unprofessional.
Learn a lesson and hope they find it in their hearts to forgive you.
Good luck.

Well, you were definitely unprofessional and probably made folks feel uncomfortable. You may have a good lawsuit if your company does not have a Code of Business Ethics and Conduct. If they do, and it is a good one, kiss the job good-bye.
