Of course they count! The point is that they shouldn't matter.
But let's face it - they do!

Good question!
We are constantly pushed messages every single day in the media that perfect beauty (as dictated by the few) equals success, so if you look as the perfume, body lotions, make advertisements all the models are actresses, model who are successful and often rich.
People are attracted to and fantasise about these icons so others want to be more attractive and then go all lengths the could muster to achieve what is regarded as perfect beauty.
If you watch the extreme makeover programmes where people get multiple cosmetic surgery operations in one go - they'll tell you that after the pain, bruising and major discomfort the key thing they realise is that beauty is something that comes from high levels of self-confidence and self-esteem.
Go out on a Friday or Saturday night and take a look at how attracts the most attention. You'll find while it may be attractive people initially, the longest attention remains on those who are confident and enjoying themselves not matter how unattractive they may be.
And also that's why ugly guys get good looking girls!

Because whether a thing matters or not is just an opinion, not a fact. And different people have different opinions. The same as they have different looks.
Just because people say a thing does not make it true.

People assume beautiful people get attention and love it. Therefore, most people think they're shallow and empty. People that say things like that are suffering from low self esteem and jealousy.

it's like a sub consious message. you think people will judge you if you don't dress how they expect you to. but notice people don't generally remember what you look like but more whether you have a good character or not. it's all pyschology.

because some things make us feel good about our self.
sometimes it just takes having your hair done - or putting on something sexy - is enough to make you feel good and hence look good.
I know many people who are beautiful and good - so I don't think this is right!!!

Looks will get you further in life than personality.
Sad but true.
