The vast majority of acting and singing jobs are still low paying. It is a position where if you get rich, it's because you are famous, and therefore the public perception is extremely skewed.
The mass media is what enabled a few actors and singers to get rich - i.e. millions of movie tickets or millions of albums can now be sold so the creators of that material can make a lot of money. But the majority of acting and singing jobs pay quite poorly.

I agree with a previous response that the majority of the industry, performing arts, are low-paying.
I think that you may have fallen prey to the supporting industries of advertising and promotion. Remember also that there are a great deal more people that are around than that of the Renaissance period. Money, too. The entertainment industry also provides a refreshing diversion to the capitalistic society in which we live.
If you truly believe that the performing arts are, across the board, high paying and glamorous. Then the advertising and promotion industries have successfully done their respective jobs.

They are smarter now about the contracts and such things. They get a royalties off everything they do now so that is part of the reason the other reason is some person out in the world is willing to pay them that much so it is really every ones fault cause if we keep going to see the movies then we are "driving the demand up" all about supply and demand ..Look at how Well JD did in POC2....

It all depends on the actor or actress and what the box office is doing as for sales.
James Carey started off at 22 million a piciture Like he really needs all that money.

They aren't. A few lucky ones are who are really talented. There are a million talented people that don't have the same fortune smile on them. They are poor. They struggle with server jobs trying to get a break and never get there. Their talent becomes their curse.
