My friend's middle name is Abigail, and she's embarassed to tell people because she hates it...I don't see it as either good or bad. Just maybe a bit dated.

Not at all! sorry but i think you can think of something much prettier not to mention more original...can you imagine Abby for short or worse yet GALE! the snaggle toothed janitor woman at my high school was a Gale *shudder

I love the name. My daughter is "Abi" for short. We spelled it:
Abigayle Blair
Abigayle because my favorite Aunt is "Gayle"
Blair was my Grandmother's maiden name.

I dont like it. It's way too popular for my taste. In fact its ranked the 11th most popular name of 2005. That's WAY too popular for me.
