Oh sure, I know there are a few white wall tires and maybe there was a colored car tire or 2 made sometime, somewhere, that's not the point.

The point is, why don't tire companies wise up and make colored tires?

There would be a huge, instant market for them. What punk kid wouldn't want red tires to match his shiny red car? Even cheesy old geezers like myself would like them. I know they can be made because colored bicycle tires are quite common. Bicycle tires are high pressure, high performance tires, and they come in almost every color. Maybe colored tires would cost a bit more, who cares, why aren't they available?

Audiocoupefreak is right...and alot of people(the type who would buy into the fad)wouldn't like the signs of wear on the tire. the tire would turn black from the tar on streets, the streets would turn the color of tires, then there would be prejudices amongst the tires...issues with color, gangs would fight, the tire market would collapse, like New Jersey just did, it would be anarchy, chaos, madness...etc. Auuggghhhh

for one there a hell of a lot cheeper to make black and a white wall is only on one side of the tire and in my opinion a good old white lettered tire will look much better on my car then a red tire and they fade after awhile and a red tire will turn pink not what i would want

the carbon black added is for wear reasons
since people are used to black tires i think color-coordinated tires would go over as well as color coordinated wheels did (still a few around but never sold well )

what makes car tires last a long time is carbon. thats why they are black. you can get bike tires in any color because they dont have to carry 3000 pounds, go 100+ mph. stop 3000 pounds and go 80,000 miles

Sounds plausible, I would go straight to the source, tire manufacturers. but I fear they will tell you that the primary ingredients in tires and black in color.

Because they would be a FAD. there would be no long-term market for them.

I saw a green car with tires painted green to match - it looked BAD.

You can buy colored tires
I have seen them on auto websites
you can colored ones or black ones that leave colored skid marks when you peel out
