Ask yourself this? If there is a "Deity" (except the one in our minds) What shape does it/her/him/they take? What dimension does it/her/him/they live in, where does it/her/him/they live? etc. etc. etc...... If you answer is "Heaven" or in my "heart" or "soul" or "I don't know" then this Deity is a "Fabrication" of our minds to satisfy our "Souls". This whole problem came about when man first evolved from "Homo whatever" into "Homo Sapiens" (wise man) and recognized "Self" in a reflection and asked "Who made me?" (our "Soul" was born at this moment in time -We became "Aware" and Empathy flowed in our veins-The Human Condition) "Who made us?" The logical answer is "The Stars" in the heavens above. That answer should be self evident. But that answer leaves our "Souls feeling Empty" so it goes...........Religion is born in our minds to fill the "Void" that was born when we became aware of "Self", and we all know how the Universe abhors a "Void" or is that a "Vacuum" LOL 8-)
I can't help but empathize with "Early" men who had no idea that Lightning, Thunder, Earthquakes, (a Solar Eclipse's....YIKES the end of the world!!!), death, or any of the "Natural" processes that impact our daily lives were " Natural occurrences".
Looking back at their lives, it is easy to see how they ascribed it all to the "The Gods". Remember there have been soooo many religions and soooo many Deity’s. How does "Anyone" know for absolutely sure which one(s) are/is the right one(s)? If you do, then IMHO you are arrogant beyond the pale (palus).
That does not mean that Religion does not play a vital part of human existence. On the contrary, without faith we would be "soulless" creatures for sure. We "Must" feed our souls or what makes us human will wither up and die and we will surely become animals, since our "Souls" (self awareness and empathy) are the ONLY things that separates us from the animals. Having a "Soul" also imparts an "Enormous Burden", becoming "Aware" means we now have the RESPONSIBILITY.

Without getting into specific religious arguments, I would postulate that God is the underlying source of energy that powers everything. From the Big Bang, a singularity that some say could only have occurred by the intervention of some external intelligent force, to the formation of stars, galaxies, planets and, eventually, life.
It is clear that all around us their is no "energy shortage". The winds, tides, gravity, magnetism, light, radiation and probably many, as yet, undiscovered energies, not to mention the incredible mystery of life itself are, I believe, powered, on the deepest level, by the same force. By the perfection of the resulting universe, I believe it's an intelligent force that some choose to call God.

"God" and gods are undefined and defined mythical concepts used by ancient civilizations who were awed by life, nature, the universe, cause and effect. It was their first attempt to understand their existence and try to control their lives. You might say it was a primitive form of science with misguided cause and effect beliefs such as human sacrifices (often virgins) being required for good crop yeilds. The sacrificial stories are very prominent and primitive hold-overs from those early days.

It never made sense to me that a "loving God" would require the sacrifice of his only son for the sins of the people he himself created. Was this his own atonement for his culpability and guilt?

As human reason progressed, these ancient myths didn't. They just became more confusing and nonsensical to a growing, evolving human brain.

Paul Tillich had the best definition of this vague and amorphous term "God". He said it is "the ground of all being".

This would be space-time, the universe, multiverse, or superstrings for us, whichever ultimately is the foundation of existence.

If you think about it, gravity is a "higher power" without which we wouldn't exist.

Pantheism is the belief that the universe IS God. This idea is much easier for rational minds to grasp than the anthropomorphic idea of "God"; an old man who created the world he lives in and the species from which he himself sprung.

God is a concept that ancient people used to explain things that could not otherwise be explained. But people have a tendency to believe things their told without question. So thousand of years later people still believe in a God of some sort despite no hard evidence to the existence of one. (The universe being complex and good things happening to good people is not evidence people!) But that guy that stands up in the front of church every Sunday works for God and tells me God is real... so he must be real because that guy said so.

God is a super-intelligent being that possibly uses strings to think with, instead of neurons or silicon microchips. Strings are the things that subatomic particles are made of. My question is: how fast, and with how much storage would a computer be if it used string - theory architecture and was the size of one proton. Now upgrade that to a super multiprocessor using all the particles in the universe. One historical note: When Einstein said "God does not play dice with the universe", he was arguing against Heisenberg's uncertainty principle. And he lost that argument.

God is our perfectly loving Heavenly Father. He makes Himself known to His children through all ages of time. Some people call Him Allah, other call Him God, other the Great Spirit. He is the Father of our Spirits. He sent us to earth because in the eternal plan, this is the only way we can learn and grow. It is like we are away at school. We lived with Him before we came to earth. He has given us prophets and scriptures throughout the History of the world (except for the Dark Ages), and He continues to guide us today when we need Him the most. We will return to Him when we leave this life. Depending on whether we repent and live righteously or not, will determine which 'mansion' we will live in during our post-earth existence (as the scriptures testify).

God - is our Father. Jesus Christ, our Elder Brother, God's Only Begotten Son in the flesh, one-with-God in purpose, but separate in body. The Holy Ghost is the personage of spirit who testifies of truths to our hearts and minds, and He is also one with the Father in purpose, but separate in body.

The Nicene Creed is the "great whore of all the earth". It alone destroyed the original understanding of who and what God was. It created the "trinity" which is an abomination in God's eyes.

God loves us all equally. But He can only bless us when we live righteously. If we do not choose good actions, then He has to withold our blessings, and by doing so we begin to suffer (then we mistakenly think we're being "punished").

God is long-suffering, patient, loving, perfect, humble and meek. He has given us power to chose for ourselves. He will not infringe upon that right. It is up to us to come to Him, He will not force Himself upon us.

What's your choice? If you're ready to really learn, by the Spirit, not by what "others say", then begin your spiritual research at www.mormon.org and pray about the things you will learn there and God alone can let you know they are true. If you are not ready for them, then just walk away.

1. A creation of man to help bolster belief. An imaginary being created to set the ground rules for human kind to follow with the implausible promise of fulfillment if the rules are adhered to.

2. A causal factor in the majority of suffering and pain throughout human generations.

God, helps in many ways some times with out knowing. when we ask god for some thing you have to remember this it can happen with in a few days but it is in gods own time not ours.
You have to believe in god and most of all trust you may not see the person but you know he is their. god is all around us in every thing that we do and one thing we have the freedom of choice. to believe or not.
