An 18-year-old man who has consensual sex with a 17-year-old girl is guilty of rape in most states, even if they are dating and in love. If charged and convicted, he must register as a sex offender. That being said, I can't think of a single case in any state where that age difference has led to anyone being charged and convicted.

Isn't statutory rape when one person is an adult and wants to marry someone who is not of the legal age for marriage? I don't know if the legal age of marriage in every state is 18. If it is, then yes it is statutory rape.

Yes -
* Once I was with a guy who was 17 and I was 19. I almost got into trouble.
* Once a friend was with a chick who was 17 and he was 18. He had to go to the police station for questioning.
This is in the state of California!

It would depend on the laws of whatever state you are in. I live in Colorado, and here it is not a crime unless there is at least 4 years age difference.

No...If parents consent to their dating it's not. If the girl was like, 14, i would say so. I think its usually a three year age gap (if the person is a minor).
