First there are many Americans who are Muslim and of the Muslim Faith- so the hate that you refer to is more directed to us from a nation or country or extremist groups-not Muslims themselves-the Muslim Faith is a very peaceful faith.

I think most reasons the Americans are hated is the lack of understanding or ability to respect other cultures.
and
The desire to control and manipulate the trade market.
The desire of America to monopolize.

It is a shame that these attacks and acts of hatred are directed at American Citizens themselves when it is the big corporations and government that are the culprits not the people. WE are now in a state of Corporations running the country and not people.

I do feel support of Israel plays a factor too and the fact that are war prescience in Iraq is more a hindrance than a benefit.

I do not feel Islam is Terrorism and that attitude creates more enemies than allies. Terrorists are deviations from the just cause and harbor the Hate. Not Islam not Muslims.

To fully understand the reasons of this conflict, you have to dive back and understand the past and history of the Muslim world. I'm not full in detail (let alone accurate, so feel free to correct me on this), but many Muslim civilizations have been either oppressed or in long-term conflict with other civilizations for many reasons (majority being the spread of Islam and the suppression of other religions. The same can be said to the other side). The conflict with Israel is due for control of Jerusalem, which Christianity, Judaism, and Islam all share as it is part of their religious heritage. Another factor are the Palestinian people being oppressed by the Israel forces. The Western World's influence towards the Middle Eastern region may also be a factor as it is believed that the lifestyle of the West (girls, glamour, riches, etc) will replace the current lifestyle the people of the Middle East has lived in tradition for generations.

The Muslim people are indeed a peaceful group. However, misinterpretations of the Koran have led some to be extremists (citing the prophet Mohammed's example of showing no mercy on his enemies during times of war as justification of performing such actions). Even the term 'Jihad' had been misinterpreted as 'Holy War' against other religions to the point of death wherein it is actually a conflict of the person's soul regarding his struggle to be a better person through faith and goodwill.

There is an element of religion involved but the US is not the only Christian country in existence and yet it has drawn most of the criticism from muslim extremists. Although complex, I would go for mostly political.....

1) Economically speaking, many Muslims feel that they have been given a raw deal by the American government and the IMF which is said to be controlled by the US.

2) The US support for Israel hasn't done much to raise the US profile among Muslims. Historically speaking, muslims and jews are sworn enemies, and most muslims believe that the United States is under Jewish control. This makes the US a target for their hatred.

3) Islam isn't about terrorism, it is only a faith! We are only talking about islam extremists, which is growing in number.

4) America foreign policy likes to force globalisation onto other nations. Many countries are not ready for it.

To win support for their cause in Iraq the American government would have you believe that muslims are against the American way of life, in particular against freedom. That is complete spin! Why should they care! We are not the only the country living with democracy.

I have a unique perspective on this because though I'm part Jewish I have lived in a muslim country for a while and during that time have learn't quite a lot about their thoughts and feelings for America.

All Muslims are most defiantly not terrorists. Every religion has its extremists. They are called cults, whether they have splintered from established religions or are new creations.

I think the friction between Americans and Muslims is caused by religious, political, and cultural differences.

Obviously the war in Iraq plays a role. My own view is that we should have never went there and tried to instill a democratic government. Democracy works here, but who is to say that it will work for the Iraqis? I don't think that democracy will mesh well with cultural and religious aspects of mainstream Iraqi society. It will be a long, long time before that region is stabilized.

That's all I've got...just my opinion.

I believe the hatred is building for political reasons. it is very expedient for the current administrtion in the US to perpetrate the idea that Islam = terrrorism. There are people who have been conviced of this awful lie. Added to this, the religious Christian radicals are made to believe that Muslims are the Anti-Christ and are intrinsically evil. Note, however, that there are plenty of people in this country who are very alarmed by this whole movement and speak up loudly against it. We are called atheists and tree-hugging liberals and idiots and we constantly relegated to the fires of hell.

On the other side, the Muslims, calling the United States Big Satan, believe that the American people all support the President. they probably don't know that he took and kept the office illegally. I actually can't blame them for believing as they do. What so many of them have to endure daily is mind-boggling.

You also should understand that the news coverage in the US always shows Israel as the victim. the atrocities committed by the Israeli government, when we get to hear about them, are forgivable according to the news coverage. what the Palestinians do, we are told, is mindless violence.

It's also true that there is tremendous jewish control in the US government. When Hillary Clinton was running for senate, for example, she accepted a donation from a Muslim group. she was forced to return the money and publically announce her support for Israel. she would have lost the election had she not acceeded to the pro-Isral pressure.

I understand that Muslims, for the most part are loving people and that the terrorist acts are committed by the radical elements.
I also understand that as the US continues its rapacious policies in the middle east, the radicals gain more support from moderate people.

A horrible situation at best.

Probably more cultural than either. But they are all relevant. Some of these ideas would have to do with the support of Israel, considering the means of how Israel came to being as a state and the effects it had and has on the surrounding area. The War in Iraq and terrorism in general is another aspect , but perhaps more in the thinking of continuous attacks and threats of attacks by coalition forces on areas generally populated by Arabs. This could be also be seen as racially motivated along with culture and religious depending on how you look at it. Extremism in any form whether it be racially, culturally, politically, or religiously motivated are all unnecessary forms of violence that usually contradict the basic values, morals and principles we all have as human beings.

Saying that there is a deviation from Islam is a joke

The Terrorists are doing EXACTLY what Islam decrees

The Koran says that ALL who do not accept Islam must be beheaded or enslaved
The Koran also says that anyone that leaves Islam must be killed for rejecting Islam

The whole Idea that Islam is a religion of peace is a joke
People that say that are delusional or telling a big lie !!!

We are in a war for our rights to worship as we please or not worship at all, they are in a jihad to dominate the world as a religion

It is time to face the reality that they mean it when they say convert or die

This war will not end until Islam rules the world or is forever banned as a religion.

It is just a shame that our government will never believe it until a few of our cities vaporize in a mushroom cloud.

I don't think it is actually HATE happening between these cultures. Not all Americans have differences muslims and vise versa.
There are people all over the world who hate Americans. I bet there are a lot of groups similar to terrorists who have tried to do things like 9/11, but have not succeeded. Unforunately, that one group of Islamic terrorists DID succeed, which in turn created a lot of prejudices and "hate" that wasn't there before (or wasn't as strong).
I don't think that the contentions between these cultures/countries is because of the religions and customs themselves--simply the actions.
