As a kid, I was never forced to say the Pledge. Nevertheless, you're right in that we shouldn't have that in a secular school system. Rather than outlaw the Pledge of Allegience, however, why not simply cut out those words? After all, they weren't even in the original.

No should not be outlawed. It is part of education to know what your country is about. Also children are forced to learn how to add and write complete sentences. Is that wrong? I wasn't happy drawing uteruses and penises in a mixed class either. So the children learn there is some give and take in society but that is good to know you can't always have things your way all the time.

If you live in this country this country is founded on the belief that God does exist. OUr forefathers thouroughly believed in God. They based all of their decisions and acts on the fact the that he exists. So, that is why children are made to say this. Our entire nation is built on the belief that he exists. So, it actually has nothing to do with the fact that you or anyone else doesn't believe in God, but, the nation as a whole believes. So, the answer to you question is NO!!!

Oh please! These days, you can't force a kid to do anything. Ever been in a public school classroom? If the kid is going to go against convention, not because mom and dad FORCE them not to believe but because they actually don't, then they'd better get used to either going along with things or standing strong and refusing to do certain things. That's the reality of life. Frankly, I think I'd rather worry about more important things.

Our country was supposedly founded on GOD so if you dont like it the get out ...
That was my first thought and then I stepped back and read it, it sounded to harsh.
I believe everyone believes in something and the pledge is not saying Jesus Christ, they just made it General so it should be kept as is in my humble opinion.

It's sad. But due to the majority of Christians, they will not take into regard the beliefs of others, and always, force their own upon everyone else.
What I do is simply skip the part, for there isn't much we can do. We atheists are surely outnumbered, and our votes against it will be too.

children aren't forced to say it. stop overexaterating. if they don't want to say it they don't have to. i go to middle school and i don't believe in god. i was polietly questioned about why i wasn't saying it and then i simply said ," i don't believe what it says" and they left it alone. you are not forced to say anything. since your so into rights and americas history you should know that you have freedom of speech. you are not forced to say anything. and if kindergartens are said to recite it then be it. if the parents didn't want their children to believe in god they would tell their children that they don't have to say it.
