Yes, my son has done it every night for forty years. A large object falling doen't awaken him. Mind you the eyes are never wide open. Just open enough for you to see the pupil and part of the white (selera).

Sure, just look at Gandalf on Return of the King. He was sleeping with his eyes open when Pippen stole the seeing stone from him.

Ask any of my High School teachers.........the answer is "yes".
I think there are different levels of sleep. At the first level your eyes can be open.

My late husband slept with his eyes slightly open. My son and daughter do it. Once my son did it in the emergency room and the doctor was talking to him and I said he is sleeping and he was amazed and attempted to call others to see it.

Yes. When I was younger this man, one of my dad's buddies, was staying with us for awhile because he was having some hard times... and he would sleep with his eyes open all the time.
It would FREAK me out.

but u could probly just get like pics of eyes and glue them to ur eyelids and sleep and people mite think ur awake (if u want 2 sleep in class) :)

my mate baz can and its well freaky.once he was asleep and my girl was in bed with me and i wanted to s-h-a-g she said no cos baz's eyes were open.''its ok i said thats how he sleeps'' later that day i told him what we had done so he says to my girlfriend ''you didn't beleive that crap about the eyes did you...i saw the whole thing!!'' no, but really he does and its just wierd!!

yeah it it i know that b/c one time ny bf and i were camping and i couldn't sleep and when i looked over @ him to wake him up so we could talk to sleep and i saw his eyes looking @ me, i was like o i didn't know u where up to he didn't say anything back and when i waved my hand at him he didn't move, i screamed b/c it freaked me out that woke him up i told him and he said i have nothing better to do but to whatch him sleep. so we both stayed up and talked for like 3 hours. anywho thats all i have to say.

If it is dark enough, yes. Closing your eyes just makes it dark, but if it is already dark around you then yes, you can do it.
