Oh definitely the north end! My favorite is MAMMA MARIA's everything tastes so homemade, and service, like very few places anywhere for any price. If you want the finest in Italian cuisine go to where the competition has worn away the pretenders!!!

Mamma Maria's was the BEST in Boston when it was run by the orignals owners. Now it's overpriced for small portions that you can't even see on your dish.
Strega is new and up incoming.. Nicky does a great job with the food.
Stay away from Dolca Vita.....

My family and I ate at Mamma Maria's a few months ago. It was beautiful, we were in an intimate side room with only four tables, the waitstaff was present and helpful but not in the way, and the food was AMAZING! Entrees are between $24-$38, but if you are looking to celebrate, it's worth the splurge.

I love Artu.... great food!!They have a nice brick oven there! Massimino's is good too, although, no Caesar salad! There are so many good little italian restaurants in the north end, you just have to follow your nose (follow the garlic scent) and duck into one of them for a great meal.
