Sometimes, it's ok. If there are no adverse symptoms;chest pain, shortness of breath, or dizziness(including lightheadedness) fainting, most doctors won't treat it. In children it is common with respirations. If underlying disease is ruled out on young adults, they try to get people to avoid smoking and caffeine including street drugs such as meth or cocaine that may be the contributing factor. Hey, mine actually skips a beat when I see an attractive man. lol. Normal is 60-100 beats per minute at rest. If you have short bouts of SVT supra ventricular Tachycardia usually 140-200 or sometimes more at rest (no running) you need to get this under contol because at that rate the heart cannot empty adequately and compromise circulation and oxygen needs. There are other heart Tachycardias (beating too fast) with negative outcomes also. Time these episodes as to when, how fast, what you were doing, and duration. This helps with diagnosis even though it's best to be at the ER when it is occurring. This is sometimes difficult. Good luck. Get it checked, but remember most can be controlled. I think you will be all right.

If that is the only symptom there is probably nothing wrong. It could be due to stress. My heart definetely skips a beat when I am nervous. The best advice is go to the doctor and let him have a listen. Then do the blood test and all of that to make sure your glucose, and cholesterol are ok. You will feel much better after going to the doctor and knowing exactly what the problem is....if there is one.

An irregular heart beat is never a good sign. If your heart beats too fast, a situation that causes excitement or stress could cause it to beat even faster or stop altogether. So the first thing you should do is go see a doctor, because they can tell you what's going on.

There is a reason why it is beating fast. At rest your heart should be between 60-80 (average, less for the better shape you are in) at rest. If it is more than that continuously then you should probably make an appointment. It could be nothing but it is better to make sure there are no underlying problems.

You may have an electrical problem in your heart. You may also just have a really high baseline heart rate. You may also have hyperactive thyroid or countless other problems I don't have space to put in here. Contact your doctor, explain the situation and have them refer you to a cardiologist. There are medications and proceedures to fix any problem that may be causing this and test to find out what the exact problem is. But get it looked into now. Don't wait until you have a heart attack like I did.

I don't think it is you should get the checked out I had a boyfriend who's heart would be kind of slow & seem like it would skip beats because he had a heart murmur, it's not a really bad thing to have that but you should just check it out to be on the safe side

Everyone's heart beats a little differently, but I'd see a doctor to be sure it's irregular. Don't go saying you have an irregular heart beat unless a doctor diagnosis it. It can affect your health and life insurance premiums significantly.
See a doctor and they can advise you better than Yahoo.

My co-worker had irregular heart beats and he told me lots of people can have a skipped beat but his was persistant. You should go see a dr. to make sure its nothing serious.
Most common heart arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation.
