That's what everyone been wanting to know for centuries. Why do you think they have so many different religions?

Don't know, but most people don't want to think that. What would we have to look forward too if we didn't think something is there? I look at it this way, and its my opinion, we fear what we don't know and if we think that life just ends, life would be unbearable. We as people always look forward and think that we will have more. Retirement, vacations, bigger salary and so on. What would we do if we didn't have someone looking over our shoulders and keeping an eye on us. I don't mean God or whomever you believe in or worship, but parents, grandparents, and other family and friends. I like to think that we aren't here and then there is nothing else. Why would that happen, people have been on Earth for a short time (in Earth years), but a long time for the human race. Why would we just be here for 80-90 years and some part of us doesn't get recycled and come back as a small part of some new person. It is a hard concept to fathom and put into words, I just can't believe that this is it and then NOTHING!

Well, theres no way we can answer that in present day.

But, I was always a fan of Pascal's wager. He talked about the existance of god and the afterlife.

He basically said

If there is a god and I wager there is a god, then i get to live in happiness for eternity
If there isn't a god and I wager there is a god, i lose nothing
If there isnt a god and I wager there isn't a god, I lose nothing
If there is a god and I wager there isn't a god, I am damned for eternity.

Now, obviously that only holds true to some religions, but its interesting nonetheless.

What do I personally believe? There isn't an afterlife. Thats the conclusion I have come to with the knowledge presented to me, however, I am quite aware that I may be wrong.
