Only you can decide that. All one can give you is some advice on what thier experience was. I purchased a 30 foot cruiser back in 1987 and used it to go up and down the Delaware River. I moved to Florida and brought the boat down through the Intercoastal which took me 14 days. I enjoyed it and now wished I had taken 14 weeks. I live on the East Coast and used the boat to fo to the Bahama's four times. When I go on cruise boats now I miss going to all the islands I did with my boat. I sold the boat as the cost was to much for me when I retired and bought a 16 foot Stinger flats boat which I now trailer. I lost 75 % of the coast of the 30 footer so be prepared for the same. I use my flats boat to go fishing and claming. I would not be without the smaller boat as the cost to use it all year is about the cost to run the 30 footer one month. If you are in the North the use of the boat is limited as it has to be dry docked for the cold weather. In Florida I use the boat all year, store in on the trailer in my back yard and am able to launch it with my wife. If you live in Florida near water I would not be without a boat. Then again you have to think if you would use the boat enough to warrent owning one. It does bring me much joy.

The problem with getting a boat now is the price of gas, it can cost you over 120 dollars to fill up your boat tank. but you only have to fill it every 5 times you go out. but still the price to run the boat and keep the engine working is just too much.

The two happiest days a boater has are when he buys his boat and when he sells it. That said, I like boating, but answering if you'll get your money out of it?... only you can answer that. How much do you want to spend, how will you use it, etc. Research as much as you can - look for used - never buy new for a first boat - too much loss of value.

The two best days of a boaters life are the day he buys his boat and the day he sells it. and the other guy was right, its a hole in the water in which you put your money. unless you have a great passion for it, won the lottery, or are a mechanic, I would run the other way. I own a 24 foot cabin cruiser that i cant wait to sell

I've had boats all my life. I am a licensed 50 ton Master Captain. I have fished, party'd, swam, dived, been laid, been pulled by boats and pulled boats. I have crossed the high seas in boats and been run over by boats. I have grounded boats and pulled boats off groundings. I have built boats, repaired and restored boats, modified boats, painted boats, cleaned fish guts and seasick friends vomit from boats. My advise to you is.. Run while you still can. Run fast. Before it's too late.
By the way. I gave my 13 year old daughter her first boat yesterday.

I would say NO. You have to store it somewhere, parts are expensive, gas is expensive, you can get tickets driving a boat. Just rent one when you want to go out and save yourself a big wad. My old boyfriend had a boat, just put a new prop on it. Put it in the river and bent it as soon as he started it! Expensive!

yes you should. there are plenty of reasons why.if your ever in a flood.you have a boat. you want to go on a vacation you got a boat. get away from your kids or wife. you can go on your new boat. go fishing on your boat. drink beer and wine on your boat. plus if you go threw the city its so nice to be relaxing with all the lights sitting on your boat. plenty of sports too water skiing. scuba diving. football diving rafting, deep sea fishing. meeting new people. imagine what your date would say when yoou say hey sugar lets take a ride on my yaght.

Research thoroughly on models prices etc. before you buy and have a reputable mechanic check it out. The buyers check will be well worth the $80 or so. If you do get one, make sure you have it winterized every year before it gets cold.
They can be a blast but do require $$ if you buy a used one.
