E1 in baseball means an error on the pitcher. It doesn't have anything to do with the umpire, it's from the score keeper.
1 = pitcher
2 = catcher
3 = 1st base
4 = 2nd base
5 = 3rd base
6 = short stop
7 = left
8 = center
9 = right

Not really the umpire's job to decide hit or error, that is the official scorer's job. If the umpire is calling E1, either he's lousy at Bingo or trying to assign an error on the pitcher.

I've never heard of an umpire being called that, but it he said it, then that means an error on the pitcher because all of the positions have numbers.

Well my bf is a umpire, and I never heard of e1. But I heard of calling them "Blue"
