All the time Im walkin with my boyfriend on 8 mile and really old guys honk and it scares me and i know girls know how i feel and i dont even were nasty cloth im dressed in all matching cloths and dressed all cute i dont were really short **** and belly shirts does any1 know why guys think this **** i meen im not trying to be conceeded but i aint ugly im and white girl and im engaged to a black man

Well... I'm from Detroit too but I never honk at anyone walking on the street.
But you know what 8 mile is like. Strip clubs and party stores every couple of blocks. Dont forget, 8 mile used to be THE place to pick up hookers....I'm sure you've noticed the "DECOY AREA" signs they have posted around I-75.
Maybe the guys are thinking what their thinking cause they are used to cruising 8 mile for hookers?

Go rent the "8 Mile" movie from your local video store. You'll see why people think everyone at 8 Mile is a ho or gutter trash. The movie didn't do much to help the image of that place.

I think that it mainly has to do with the fact that men(young or old) think that as a women "we" think that honking and hollering at us makes us feel good. They are letting us know that they think we are attractive and/or sexy to them. Which I am sure that some ladies do like the attention.
I can understand that it scares you, but try to ignore it.

Damn you must not have lived there long then. rollin down 8 was the best area to get a ho. Especially right there at the fairgrounds area at woodward.
I used to work down there and thats all you would see is hookers getting picked up or dropped off.
People are accustomed to seeing this and if you are on foot then they assume you are working.
