I haven't talked to my brother since 1994.........No big loss either I might add!

I'm in a similar boat.. my folks are about 20 minutes away.. my sister about the same.. my brother is a little further away... but.. because of my mothers dislike for my wife.. she has pitted the rest of the family against her and against me. I've talked to them and talked to them... for 10 years... and it's done no good. So, last year, I told them I'm done talking. The number one person in my life is my wife... my first obligation is to her because she's my wife. My family doesn't understand that... so.. we having nothing to do with them nor they us.
My sister and my brother both had kids... we never knew until after they were born and it was always through another party, never from them. We've never been included in their lives which means that their children have lost out on a very loving and caring aunte and uncle. I've given up trying.. I have enough in my life to deal with without including their BS.
However, having said that, if you can resolve things with your family... do it. I do find it hard at Christmas and birthdays sometimes... but I've been the more distant one from my family for almost 25 years so I've pretty much accepted it.

Yes, you are not alone. It really hurts to think back when we where children together and all the fun we've all had together especially if you've had great parents and now things or misunderstandings have gotten in the way of each other - it's so sad. Life is really too short for this - we really all need each other in some way but not all see it that way - maybe one day when they need you they'll call you but it may be too late.

Yeah well my moms sister has not talked to anyone im my family for about 10 years and we live about 2 min aways from each other. So your not the only one.

Yup. Me and my sister didn't talk for about 6 months over a fight. I was like 32 and she was 34.

Yes, everyone does, but don't let it take too long to talk again, he may not always be there to say I'm sorry, say your sorry or at least tell him you love him, Life is Short.
