I always thought Texas was the hick state but after I moved from Oklahoma to Texas people were telling me that I was the one with the accent, so I would have to say Oklahoma is a hick state.

Hick? come on how old are you?
I was born in texas and when i lived there i maybe heard that word 3 times. Ask something a little more stimulating and thought provoking next time.
Plus, hick is a derogatory term for a person in a Rual area. So that means that every state in the United States is considered that.

The states have got to be Vermont and New Hampshire. I have a friend from Vermont and HE THINKS he is from a hick state. My friend has lived there for about 6 years and he can't stand the hicks in his town

The biggest has to be North Carolina....reasoning....I live on the border of NC and SC and I go to the mountains of NC at least once a week. The locals are very nice but most do not have teeth and attend churches where getting bit by poisonous snakes is a way of expressing faith!! Most of the way up there you see rocking chairs with older people in them and more than likely you will get slowed down by an old tractor in the road.

Pretty subjective question this is! But, being from the north (RI), and IMHO, the hick states that come to MY mind would have to include, mississippi, alabama, west virginia, arkansas and Louisiana...but that's just me.
(how can you tell that tooth paste was invented in the south? Becuase if it was invented up north it would be called TEETH PASTE! hahahaha)
