You are probably thinking of Bonnie Tyler's version, although Jennifer Holiday apparently recorded it first.

Jennifer Holliday sing "And I am Tellin You". You can find it in any of her greatest hits albums or on the Dreamgirls soundtrack (the original 1982 Broadway production)

It's from the Broadway play "Dreamgirls". It's coming out as a movie staring Beyoncé Knowles and Jamie Foxx so I'm sure a soundtrack will be coming out if you prefer that version.
