Learn from everything you write, good or bad. Don't trash any of your work, you can show it to deans of colleges when applying for a writing major. Another thing is to read things you've written and ask why you like it or why you hate it. Are your characters acting realistically, or melodramatically? Did you set the scene well, etc. Once you learn what works for you, you can start creating really great stuff. One more thing, submit to ligit contests and magazines frequently. One in the sources is a lit magazine for teens called teen ink. Enjoy!

Chances are, you're already doing all of the above. There isn't anything else. If you have that small spark of talent that sets you apart from all the rest, then one day you'll look at your writing and know it's improved. Then you'll just keep going, and with a lot of work, and a little bit of luck, if you've got something worthwhile to say, you'll be published. Good luck.

Follow the ABC's of reading. A - Read. B - Read the right books, C- Know how to read (study) them.

Basically through READING great literature you will learn how to write. Counter intuitive yes but it is how the great writers in the past learned.

Also keep a commonplace book (that's where you converse with the authors) Good Luck...

Keep writing and keep reading. Those are the only two surefire ways to improve. If you can find a writer's group near where you live, they can help encourage you and give you feedback on what's working and what's not.

Write every day, in a blog or journal. Give yourself a minimum amount of words to write daily, and stick to the routing as best you can. Also, read a lot, and be aware of what you like in the writing of others. But mostly practice, practice, practice. Good luck with your writing!

Try and write a little something every day. Do you keep a diary? Try it- just writing about your day-to-day life and thoughts can bring out your talents. Read a lot. And try your hand at rhyming poetry now and then- someone (I forget who) once said that writing poetry that has rhythm and rhyme is one of the best ways to improve your writing. Good luck!

Keep writing. Read a lot with a critical eye and see the way in which other writers are marshaling words to express their thoughts so beautifully yet accurately.Show what you write to your benefactors and seek their guidance and critic.

Write something every day. Either read a critically accepted work and do your best to mirror their writing or go to public places, eavesdrop on their conversations, and do your best to capture their conversation and "story".
