I've never had my arms waxed, but I get my brows waxed regularly. It doesn't hurt that much. The first time usually hurts worse than all the other times. Basically it'll be warm and sticky, the waxer will pull your skin taut (doesn't hurt), and then place a strip of cloth on the waxed area and pull. It hurts, but it's not unbearable. How much it hurts depends on your skin sensitivity, but a good guideline is it hurts the most on your bikini area, and the least on your brows. Just guess where your arms would fall sensitivity wise and go with that.
You can't really stop once you've started (think 40 year old Virgin), so if you're really worried about it hurting, take a dose of pain-killer (like Advil or Tylenol) before you go. The medicine will kick in right as your newly waxed skin starts to hurt, if it does at all.
----
Contrary to what some people may tell you, your hair will not grow in any thicker or darker or in higher concentration than you did before. It may SEEM that way, but it really doesn't. Think about cutting your hair: If you buzzed your head and let it grow back an inch, it would seem like there was a lot more hair, but if you cut an inch off your hair now, it wouldn't seem like such a big deal growing back an inch. Your hair (anywhere on your body) will never grow back differently after you remove it.

I'm no chic, but a slightly hairy man. I had my back waxed, DAMN! Hell yes it hurts. I did kind-of laugh through the whole thing. I guess it's really not that bad, but I doubt I'll do it again soon (I did it before a trip with friends to the Brittish Virgin Islands).

I don't think that waxing hurts. But be careful because when you wax your hairs you're going ot have to continue waxing them because the hair will continue to grow back in thicker.

It's all in the mind. Don't think about the pain, and there will be no pain.
