According to my little brother who spent a year in Northern Iraq, the majority of Iraqis are very nice. They are also very thankful that we are there. After all, 90% of the insurgents are NOT Iraqi.

I have met several Iraqis and knew them all to be thoughtful, kind, and considerate people. I also met one who had some ideas I didn't agree with at all. Asking what a person thinks of Iraqis is like asking what someone thinks of Americans, Canadians, or any other national group. There are so many different people from so many backgrounds and ways of life that it is impossible to categorize an entire nation of people with just a few words, or to describe them all in one way.

I think they have been oppressed for so long they are having difficulty accepting their new discovered freedom. Their evil neighbors aren't helping much either by sending terrorist insurgents in with goals of creating chaos and civil war. But that is how Islam is.

However, I think the Iraqi people are basically good, for the most part, but they are afraid, confused, and unorganized. Its gonna take a lot of time and support for them to get their act together. If the allied powers pull out too soon Iraq will backslide into the dark pit of Islamo-facism. If Iraq becomes a successful democracy, other nations in the region will follow in its footsteps.

The average Iraqi is probably no different than the average American. It is just the nutcases that you hear about on the TV.

i feel sorry for the iraqi people. could you imagine living they way they have to live, in constant fear of what the next day holds, wondering if your children will live to see another day, how you are going to educate them. war is terrible but hopefully when all is said and done they will be able to live safer lives and create a future for their children..

They are people. Why question it because of where they are from?
