For humans, life is linear. Everything has a beginning, a middle, and an end. But if this is so, where did the concept of infinity come from? Can we ever truly understand it, or are we to exist with the metaphoric wool forever pulled over our eyes?

Calculus is mathematics that deal often with the idea of infinity and non-linear (non-real) equations. If we can develop mathematics that deal with these concepts, I think it proves we can understand the universe's infinite nature.

I dont think the human mind is linear at all. Most things in our lives do have a beginning a middle and a end. Our universe has to expand infinitly because space is really nothing but a void with a little bit of matter in it . So the end of space would be nothing which it already is nothing there for it is infinite

I rather doubt that most human beings can grasp the concept of infinity due to the fact that a concept requires a beginning.
Most people I have had this conversation that are Christians, would rather not discuss any possibility of infinity.

the concept of infinity came from the early years of man when we were barley learning about the earth when they would look out to ocean and thought that it never ended so they gave a name to never ending which is infinity

Only when conciousness is altered.

Examples: Religious chanting, psychotropic stuff, getting involved in really, heavy-duty math so that you think, sleep and eat in mathematical symbols.

Or when you see the look in the eyes of a new born child.

excellent question!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i love this type of thinking, you my friend are a progressive thinker. i do believe that we are FULLY capable of grasping eternity, our basic veiw of reality is "linear", as you said, but our minds ARE infinate. i'm an atheist, so i'm not going in the "god" direction with this, but it would take millions of years, for 1 human mind to fill with information. endless. you can do anything with the popwer of your mind, we just havent achieved that enlightened stage in evolution yet.
