MJ is a legend, Kobe is working on his legacy. Both are awesome players and great people. Who's better? I think they're both awesome.

Re: Jordan's scoring average...it's higher because he shoots a hell of a lot more...

Jordan led the league in field goals attempted a record NINE times, Kobe has only led once.

Jordan was such a ball hog that he ended up taking 1,040 more shots that Wilt Chamberlain depsite playing almost 7,000 FEWER minutes.

Jordan scored a little more than Oscar Robertson, but he took 5,000 more shots than Oscar Robertson.. (24,000 to 19,000).

The NBA also moved the three point line in after they found out Michael couldn't shoot from there... then he became a good 3 pt shooter (as a lot of players did when they moved the line in). Check out his percentages before they moved the line in... in the TEENS in each of his first four season.. he finally got over the 20% mark in his fifth year.

Jordan also holds another record that David Stern can't be too proud of... he scored only FIVE points in his one and only three point shoot out competition... that's the worst performance by any player in the history of the competition.

At any similar age, Kobe has been better than Jordan. And six rings isn't close to being a record.

To say that Jordan never played with anybody good is absurd... Scottie was selected as one of the 50 greatest players in NBA hisotry in 1996.

The fact that Jordan won 'without a dominating big man' just shows how the quality of centers went down during the 1990s and 2000s.. In the 90s, you had Ewing, Robinson and Olajuwon....that was it..until Shaq came up anyway. Robert Parrish was through as a player by the 90s, even though he played some during that time... the Lakers, Celtics and 76ers of the 80s would have destroyed the Bulls of the 90s...

When Jordan was a one man team, he was always getting swept out of the playoffs in the first round... even though back then, you only had to win 3 first round games to advance... Kobe did that (won 3 games), but now you have to win four games in the first round to advance... again, rules work in Jordan's favor...

Also, Jordan never won a ring without Pippen... and he never won anything without Phil Jackson. Jackson, of course, has also won with Kobe.

Michael Jordan because he was a team player and an All Star player who was strong on both offense and defense. Kobe Bryant is good but he is not as strong as a team player like Michael Jordan.

Elite basketball players are judged by the championships where they led their teams.

So at this point in Kobe's career, he is not at the same level as Jordan yet.

By this criterion, the only players on a level with Jordan have been Bill Russell and Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Both are dominant pivot players. So Jordan was the first elite dominant perimeter player.

Jordan, if anyone says anything else....I laugh at you and feel pity. Jordan was the most dominant player of his time, a time when skill matter and style didnt. He mastered the jump shot whereas Kobe relies heavily on driving and layups. Jordan has proved over and over again that he is great, winning the scoring title more than anyone else(10 times) and leading his Bulls to 6 championships. You may argue Kobe for his 81 point show, but now everyone forgets that Jordan also has averaged more points per game over his career(30.12) than Kobe(23.9) and carried it longer, 15 seasons vs. Kobe's 10.If it isnt offense you like, how about defense, over their careers, Kobe averaged 1.5 whereas Jordan averaged 2.35 steals. Jordan was also more proficient, averaging 2.73 turnovers per game to Kobe's 2.87. Jordan was also a better shooter, with a better Field Goal %, close 3-pt % and better Free Throw %(.497, .327, .835) than Kobe(.451, .336, .834). Jordan beat him in averaged assists too, Jordan has 5.3 to Kobe's 4.5. Kobe's efficiency rating(21.37) isnt as good as MJ's(29.19). Michael was no only the best player of his time, but he was the best player to ever put on a jersey.

Michael Jordan all the way, especially at his prime. of course, Jordan is too old to battle Kobe now. But if Jordan was the same age as Kobe, he's kick Kobe's butt.

MJ is a hell of a lot better thn Kobe, he won six championship rings without a dominant big man, Kobe had Shaq help him win 3 rings, look at the Lakers since Shaq left and ull c exactly wht i mean.

MJ, Kobe is selfish always saying my team my team and crying he is not even man enough, Shaq had to go to him to talk he did not have the shame any way oh yeah also the word TEAM means two or more not one Kobe.

MJ never hated his teammates even tho he was the best in the game.
