Hi.
I'm a victim of domestic violence. The last months have been hell for me. Maybe because I'm 17 and my abuser, my 21 year old b/f, is going to be charged with statutory rape and sexual assault. To make it even worse I discovered i was pregnant and later had a painful miscarriage.
I want to get my story out there, so that people my age can see that love does not always have a good ending. And also, I want abusers ,like my b/f, to know that we wimen can fight back. That we are capable of escaping their control.
How do I attract publicity to that issue and to my cas ein particular?

1. Write a book to the best of your ability.

2. You will most likely have to publish it through a self-publisher like publishamerica.com or iuniverse.com

3. Once it is available, get the media's interest by sending notices to the newspapers, libraries, and area schools (any place that might be interested in teaching/hearing about your story). Offer to visit these places to give lectures and sign books.

It may take several months, but I think that is the best way :-) Plus a little good may come out of your suffering (for yourself anyway), by making some money off the books. Good luck!

Try emailing or writing a teen magazine like "Cosmo teen" or another teen magazine. Are you charging him with satutory rape because you are underage? If so, that seem wrong to me you are 17 and definately old enough to know you wanted sex with him. I'm not saying that he should have been allowed to rape you or hurt you, just that the rape most of the time its statutory rape because of the age difference. I'm truly sorry about your problems and hope you get the help you need.

As a working journalist, I will give you the best advice I can. I have written several stories about drugs and domestic violence and every time I find it very difficult to find sources. My best advice would be for you to contact a reporter in your area and tell them how important you belive that it is to get your story out there and offer to be a quotable source for the story. Often times, because of situations like yours, we are forced to change the names of our subjects but any time you have a source who is willing to tell all and use their identity, it makes for a much better story. It would be worth a shot...good luck.

I would love to help you make a website. If you really want to get your story out there, you can spend a little money on advertising. But that can be expensive. You can start a MySpace account for girls to connect to. But I can help with the website if you would like. If you don't do myspace, you'll have to pay for a domain name for about $4.95 a month.

Stay away from My Space.com.
Contact an editor and tell them what you'd like. Often times, they don't do stories on certain subjects because they can't find sources.
You may want to contact an agency that helps with domestic violence and tell them you want to share your story with others and what they'd suggest.
Good luck.
