Just wondering if anyone, besides me, is old enough to remember this. Where, and why (two part answer) was The Wall originally performed by the REAL Floyd (with Roger) in the U.S. . The ten points (if anyone really cares) will go to the first who responds correctly with all cities and both reasons why that is where it happened. Extra special bonus for anyone else at opening night in the first city who can remember why the concert was stopped after the first song (although temporarily, thank goodness)
If you happened to see this tour, I am curious as to the the audience reaction at the end.....did anything strike you as odd, or was it just the first show?

The only reason I can think of for the REAL Pink Floyd is because they had a stage band that assisted in the music and they wore masks of the members of PF in the European tours, and I'm not sure if they did it in the states.

The played in Los Angeles and New York. The tour was SO expensive and such a large production, that it wasn't cost effective to travel the whole country. They actually filed for bankruptcy after the world tour.

The first show was in L.A and was interrupted by fireworks catching the curtians on fire.

"The Wall" tour only played four venues, starting at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island, N.Y., and Los Angeles Sports Arena in California in February 1980; moving to Earl's Court in London, in August 1980; Westfallenhalle, West Germany, in February 1981; and back to Earl's Court in June 1981. With a massive budget to support, the members of the band all lost money.

With an elaborate stage show that included the building of an actual (as well as symbolic) wall between the band and the audience throughout the show, only to be blown to bits near the end.

Pink Floyd performed the concert version of The Wall only a handful of times, in New York and Los Angeles.

I can't remember them all, but my old computer (it was a 386 upgraded to a 486) had the tour screensaver that showed several picks along with dates and citie names. It was cool.
