Is it worth it to trade a stone, a wheat and a sheep to get the longest road?

Depends on how well you're doing. If you're at 8 points it's worth it! I probably wouldn't trade 3 cards (especially 3 different cards) under most circumstances, even to get longest road. Granted, longest road is 2 points, but it can be taken away if it's too early in the game.
