I think the best thing would be to get your skin looking flawless, using powder/ foundation colours as close to your natural skin tone as possible. Less is more, but for eyeshadows I always go for colours that bring out my eye colour rather than going by hair colour - I have blue eyes, so I use blues, lilacs or coppery colours. Why don't you go shopping and enlist some help from a beauty counter? Most will do a make-over for free. I like Benefit in Boots and Debenhams stores. Top tip: look for an assistant who has the type of make-up style that you like and ask them.

Assuming you don't normally wear a lot of make up, the answer is that what will suit you will vary widely according to how dark your hair and skin are and what colour your eyes are, and maybe what colour your dress is. My mother and myself both have similar colouring but I suit warm colours, she suits cold colours and switching colours makes us look ill. I suggest you buy some cheap make up and experiment before the day - if you are in the UK Boots Naturals eyeshadows are pretty good value. I reckon you can't go very wrong with pinky brown shades, as these suit both my mother and myself.

First of all you have to go by the color of the dress you are wearing. If it is in cool tones pinks and brown and mauves are great on bunettes. If your dress is more on the warm side you need to stick to the neutral colors or you will look washed out a blush that is a combination of brown and pink mixed works best. Lipstick in the same shade also, use brown and tan and white or light pink shadow and you will look great. I personally like a brown black eyeliner and black mascara so eyes are noticable.

It depends on your skin tone. I a brunette as well, do best in browns, greens, and certain shades of Pinks and bronze colors.
Take a sample color of your dress, if you have it hemmed as the tailor to save a piece of fabric. Go to clinique, sephora, or something. Most places will offer a free makeover. Go in and let them help you. I do that when in doubt or if I am wearing a color that washes me out

It depends on your skin tone but a warm or cool true red with a natural eye is always classy.

I like to wear golds and browns. they make your hair stick out. They esp work well if you have brown eyes too.
Any greens or purples would look great too.
You could always match your eyeshadow to your dress too..
