I heard that the signs of early heartburn means that the baby is going to have lots of hair.... is this true??

Heartburn during pregnancy is common but has nothing to do with the amount of hair the baby has. The hormone progesterone slows down digestion and relaxes the valve that leads to the esophagus so sometimes stomach acid comes back up leading to heartburn. Its the pits and not much you can do about it. I carry a bottle of tums with me, and the calcium is good for me but I dont find it helping much. I hear big glasses of ice cold milk do the trick, but I hate milk so I don't know if it works or not. Hope this helped some.

I had moderate heartburn with my first pregnancy. If I remember correctly it started at about the time of my second trimester. But, with my second pregnancy... Whoa Nelly! I was eating a bottle of tums a week , I think! It started at about the same time and got progressively worse until delivery. My OB/GYN said that it was because I "carried" my babies differently. My boy was very low and my girl (the second) was very high. The more the baby presses on your actual stomach, the more heartburn you are likely to have. (And as for the heartburn/baby having hair myth is concerned, both of my kids had lots of hair. Lol.)

I have heard that too and people swear by it - but I didn't have much heartburn and my daughter was born with a head full of hair - my friend on the other hand had TONS of heartburn and had a bald baby

Good luck!

My son was born with a head full of curl beautiful hair and it was a lot of hair. I had bad heartburn towards the last 3 months of my pregnancy. All i can tell you is to keep tums handy, they really help and you doctor should say it is ok or they can give you a something eles for it. But i don't know if that myth is true but i can say it was true for me.

I've heard that too but I've had absolutely no heartburn and the doctor said he can tell that she's going to have hair on the sonogram. So it's probably a wives tale.

dont believe that. i had heartburn and my girl had lots of hair, but my friend got heartburn too and her daughter was nearly bald when she was born. heartburn in pregnancy comes because your body cant handle all the foods u like to eat cuz of all the changes.

Everyone is going to say different things so I dont think it really proves anything. But I had horrible heartburn the whole time I was pregnant and my daughter had tons of hair, and still does!
