My favorite game to play by myself is called Fool's Delight. The object of the game is to get rid of all of your cards while looking for pairs and card of the same suit.
After shuffling the deck, you hold the deck in your hand and draw four cards from the back of the deck and fan them out on top of the deck. The key cards to look at in the game are the first and last card in a group of 4. If the two cards match suit, then you take the two middle cards between them and discard them. If the two cards are the same number or face card, then you discard all four cards. If they don't match, then you slide the top three cards over the last one and draw another card from the back of the deck, so you have 4 cards in front of you again. Also if you discard cards and there are still cards below it fan down to those, while only keeping 4 in the group still. You win if you have discarded all of your cards.
This may sound confusing but you need to just try it to have fun with it.

Look up the rules to Idiot's Delight. It's easy and you can play almost anywhere because you don't have to lay cards out.

Solataire is always the best bet, or the memory game where you put the cards face down and try to remember where the matches are. It may sound silly but it strengthens your brain! :)
