Yes, I have to work on the 3rd.
Our company is so screwed up, that we have inventory starting the day after Christmas! No vacation will be taken at or around Christmas. How sucky is that?
When the idea of changing a bit to allow this, due to other businesses doing it, the boss says we should be lucky we have jobs!
I guess like all other large companies, they just stick to the major holiday schedule, and say be grateful we even give you those days.......

BS!! I work July 1.2,3,4,and 5 so what is the big deal? Where did you connect to the Internet to ask this question? Most likely at work at this time of day, because all insurance companies in the US are open now. Just another case of a person wanting something for nothing and using the company resources without consent. Get back to work and off the Internet.

I work for a company that gives only three paid holidays per year. I work Monday and Tuesday, July 3 and July 4. Enjoy your company!

I know all about it. My store is open on the 4th so I will probably be working. I work retail and the day after thanksgivingis a nightmare. I also had to work on January 1st which was dead and they kep wanting to send me home because of that but I kept avoiding the boss until my shift was over because after all I had to go to bed early on Newsyear eve and get up on New years day early so I'm not about to go home after they ruined my holiday. They just had to pay me for doing nothing. I used to work for an insurance agency years ago and we were closed the day after Thanksgiving and closed early the day before.

Well - I would ***** - as it a work day...but - look at it this way - your getting paid - yes, you may be bored, but your getting paid for a day where you will have almost nothing to do... Then again - if your there - make the most of it and prepare your stuff fr the rest of the week/month
AND YES - I have to work that day as well

the 3rd is not a holiday. niether is jan 2nd. nor the day
after thanksgiving. sheesh! some people are never
satisfied. btw if your company is like most, you will not
be paid for the holiday unless you work the day before
and the day after. that is just the way it is.

i go on the list. If there is not any longer a public option, then coverage reform is lifeless. i do no longer want my complicated earned tax money going to subsidize a health reform invoice which will in person-friendly words positioned billions of greenbacks into the coverage organizations wallet. and could no longer help the uninsured the way a public option would. this can merely be a money cow for the coverage marketplace.

I have to work July 3rd... It's not a holiday, why are you complaining? Atleast you have holidays off! I used to work at a hospital, and guess what? They never close

I have to work on Tuesday the 4th, even. I work for a dentist, and he never takes the 4th off. We get 1/2 day on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day off, and that's it. -- Most dentists are off on Fridays, but not us. We work all day, but we have to. Too many patients...
Yeah, kinda sux, but if you had a toothache on the 4th, I would guess you'd want to be seen.

This is something you should probably check out when you go into the interview. Ask them about their policies when it comes to holidays, stat holidays, etc, etc. You want to know before you start if this is a job that suits you and your needs.
