Fleas will be everywhere in the apartment, including carpet and furniture. The best way to go is with a room "bomb". At the same time, de-flea any pets and sprinkle seven dust around the doors or in the yard. When these folks move out, there will no longer be any "flea food"....so you better get them to take care of the problem NOW!

Vacuum! -- vacuuming removes many of the eggs, larvae and pupae developing within the home. Vacuuming also stimulates pre-adult fleas to emerge sooner from their insecticide-resistant cocoons, thus hastening their contact with insecticide residues in the carpet. By raising the nap of the carpet, vacuuming improves the insecticide's penetration down to the base of the carpet fibers where the developing fleas live. Vacuum thoroughly, especially in areas where pets rest or sleep. Don't forget to vacuum along edges of rooms and beneath furniture, cushions, beds, and throw rugs. After vacuuming, seal the vacuum bag in a garbage bag and discard it in an outdoor trash container.
Insecticide Application - Once fleas become established in a home, insecticides are almost always needed to control them. Always read and follow label directions on the insecticide container.

Lemon Joy!!!!!!!!! Lemon is lethal poison to fleas!!!!!!!!!!!!! It kills them instantly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wash your pets with lemon dish liquid. And to get rid of them around the house, this trick really works trust me. Get a tea light, regular cereal bowl, lemon dish liquid, water. Put a small amount of dish liquid in the bowl, a little bigger than the size of a quarter. Pour water in the bowl, about 1/2 an inch high ( make sure that it is about half way up the tea light), then light the candle and put it in the middle of the bowl. Do this at night right before you go to bed, set it in the floor in each room that has a problem. Make sure to keep your pets out of that room for the night. And in the morning you will have a bowl full of dead fleas. Fleas are attracted to heat and light, so that is why you do this at night. And the lemon joy in the water will kill them when they jump in the water try to get to the light from the candle. I do this whenever I notice a few fleas around and within minutes the bowl has a ton of fleas! This is better than flea spray and it is so cheap!

When my cat had fleas I went to the pet store and they have a solution in 1 gal spray container for fleas that costs around $10.00. You just spray your carpet and when it is dried run the vacuum. It got rid of the fleas in the whole house with the one container. Don't forget to take out the bag in your vacuum and make sure it is well sealed.

I take it you want them mostly out of your apt, as the yard is nearly impossible to control this time of year with all the rain, but what I use is at Home Depot called Zep Pest Control Concentrate. It is a little bottle, make 2 gallons and sells for abpout $8.00 so with a bottle sprayer to use it with you get away with about $20.00 or less and this stuff really works. Just spray, not soak, the carpet and furniture as you dont want to move them with you too. I have used it around my grandson and dogs with no effects whatsoever, hope this helps and good luck

Remove the source. Fleas need the host animal in order to survive. If they're moving out and taking their flea infested animals with them, then the fleas will die off from starvation.

Air conditioning can help. I have heard that you can try brushing borax into the carpets and vacuum well. Borax is suppose to dehydrate any eggs. Any pets in the house need to be treated to stop them from bringing them in/ carrying them.
