My wifes ob once told us. Many women expierence regular cycles for the first 2 to 3 months of pregnancy. Full period with heavy flow. Some last a normal time period for the women, some aren't so normal. It has nothing to do with miscarriage or anything, he said, it just happens.

When my wife was pregnant with our first, she had her period still for 3 months then stopped. The only way she thought she might be pregnant was she was constantly sick and throwing up. Actually she thought she might have some form of cancer which with her family history it was certainly a possiblility. In any case we had a baby 9 months later.

With our 2nd child, she had 1 periods, missed one (Feburary in fact and her cycle was always 31 days), had a period and then stopped. So that one we never thought or suspected she might be pregnant. It was when she started gaining loads of weight that we figured she must be pregnant.

So not only is each women different, so is each pregnancy.

Hi, yes you may still have your normal period while you are pregnant. I was pregnant with my first son, Although i was feeling strange through out three months the last thing on my mind was that i was pregnant due to my normal periods. right after my birthday i decided to get checked because i had an irregular period, meaning spotting then slightly light. when i went to the clinic the doctor informed me that i was three and a half months pregnant! after that experience I pay close attention to my cycles and any symptoms just in case. so yes you CAN get a normal period while you are pregnant.

I'm not sure, but with my last child, I kept feeling like I was pregnant, but had my period for two months in a row - so I didnt go buy a pregnancy test. By the time I actually went to my OBGYN to find out what was going on w/ my body, I was 12 weeks pregnant!

I had a normal period when I was pregnant for the 1st 3 months. My doctor didn't even know I was pregnant b'cuz the test camw up negative. When I started getting morning sickness they thought I had food poisoning. But when my period stopped, I was already 4 months pregnant, and I barely showed. So I don't agree. B.T.W. my son is normal.

Your doctor is correct. Some women can have spotting, but not a period. If they have a period they are not pregnant, no matter what they say. They either had it and were not pregnant, or had spotting and was pregnant.

Menstruation (getting your period) is your cervix opening up and your body shedding the fluids and ovum (egg) that was not fertilized and is not going to become a baby. So, yes, in that way, your doctor is correct.

However, when women are pregnant, there can still be spotting.

My wife had three periods, when she was pregnant...

And the thing is, the pregnancy wouldnt even show up!!

She thought she had abdominal flue and went to the docs and he gave her meds for it...(after he tested her for pregnancy). She had all the "classic symptoms", but all blood tests and pregnancy tests wouldnt show...

After the pills went out, and she was still having symptoms, she went back and another test was done and it showed finally...

This also happened to some of our friends, that they had periods also...

Its not uncommon... (despite what the doc says!)... No, I dont dispute what he says, but, I know these cases for a fact because they were my relatives and my wife who had them...

I wish you well..

Jesse

An old co-worker had two children and didn't find out she was pregnant until 5 months when she felt the babies move because she continued her regular periods right on time.

They aren't lying. They are having a period, it's just really light and/or really short. Thats prob why your doc said you can't get your actual period. B/c thats not whats happening, preggos can get a period, it's just diffferent.
