She finally just feel asleep after 2 hours of trying to get her to take a nap. She's been cry and pulling on her ears. But the thing that makes me wonder is she stops crying when i pick her up. I gave her some baby tylenol but she would still cry more than usual. She just had 2 teeth come in last week and i think they are bothering her also. She does'nt seem to have any fever. Just crying, being fussy, and pulling on her ears. Can i put some of my ear drops in her ears to help her until i can make it to the doctors office, my husband is at work. Thanks Mothers.

I had a very similar experience to this last month with my 10 month old daughter. I panicked and took her to the doctors straight away, it was a nightmare and she screamed the doctors down however I was told she did not have an ear infection at all, in fact, the doctor said she was fine. He checked her heart, temp and lungs. We put it down to teething but I have to say when she is tired she pulls on her ears a lot. Does your little one fight sleep?

I would take her to the doctors as soon as you can, Try not to stress to much as she will pick up on this. Good luck.

Both can be problematic for a newborn. Often but not always in newborns, new teeth are accompanied by fever. Continual crying in a newborn indicates that there is a problem that a doctor should be informed of.The ear and oral cavity are continual so it is difficult to tell by looking where the problem is. You can always try calling your babies' doctor and describing the problem over the phone. If this is not possible, Please call a friend, family member or neighbor to drive you to take your baby to the doctor. The baby's doctor can examine the babies' ears and mouth, as well as provide you with the correct medicine if needed for your baby. It is never a good idea to use your medicine on your baby.

it is hard to tell at this age if it is ear or teeth pain - pulling on the ear often indicates an ear infection, along with the constant crying when you try to lay them down (it makes the pressure feel worse to lay down). I woud day to keep giving her tylenol or mortin until you get to the doctor - don't give her your ear drops until you know for sure and even then, the doctor will want to give you an antibiotic to have her take orally first. At least, that is usually the first step. Don't give her your medcine, it will be too much for a baby, it is made for adults. Try to keep her as comfortable as possible until the doctor can see her and good luck!

It's hard to tell unless you take her to the doctor. Teething can cause ear pain too, but will not cause a fever over 100.0 I wouldn't use ear drops. She may have also just discovered she has ears, and that is why she is playing with them, and it is just a coinsidence that she is teething at the same time! I always say, when in doubt, call the doctor. They are the only ones who can give you a definitive answer. Good luck....

Well, call the doctor. They can tell you that you need to come in and get her checked. I have a 15 month old..and he's had constant ear infections..all of them started when he was pulling and poking his ears. That's they're only way to tell you!

You said you noticed her pulling her ear. This as all the sign you need to take her to a doctor immediately. Baby's ear canal's are perfectly shaped for infections to set in, and this can lead to deafness if not properly cared for. My son had chronic ear infections to the point that our Dr. suggested tubes. Fortunately, we didn't have to go that route, but we had to be incredibly vigilant in noticing whenever he had another infection.

well im no mother. but i feel sorry for you in your situation. i remember when my little brother would cry. it hurt my heart. i do think your baby has an ear infection. since she is pulling her ear. is it just one ear or both? well i dont know if its safe to put your ear drops in her ears. since it is made for adults. call you doctor and ask. good luck and hold her in your arms until she falls asleep if that is what she likes.

You can see an infected ear if you know what to look for.

Buy an inexpensive ear scope and go to the Dr. Have the Dr. explain what to look for and how to use the scope.

A healthy ear should reflect a pearl shaped & colored ear drum.

Her teeth probably are bothering her, but you should take her to the doctor anyway. You won't be the first mom who was at a loss as to what it all means.
