I had this problem too & then I realized why. I kept my clean towels on a shelf in the bathroom for all to use, but the humidity from all the showers was getting the towels somewhat moist & they didn't re-dry proper. I moved my extra towels to the linen closet down the hall & haven't had that problem since. But now everyone better check for a towel before they get in the shower or............lol!

Lynn is ideal - use the bleach (do no longer use a good purchase bleach until eventually you've the problem below administration) contained in the wash water and the white vinegar on your dispenser as your fabrics softener. The vinegar will genuinely grant a sunshine aroma even as taken from the dryer. And be certain to get those towels thoroughly dry. get rid of them from the washer once the perfect spin cycle stops and from the dryer even as they're thoroughly dry. what sort of detergent are you employing and what's the water temp? have you ever finished any sort switching to work out if one product works extra efficient than yet another? the position are the damp towels kept earlier you placed them into the wash? I used an open weave laundry bag (next to the washer) for all towels and wash cloths until eventually I had a batch to bathe...which in Florida would not take lengthy in any respect. part of the problem my be they incontrovertible reality that the towels are already moldy even as going into the wash. ? might want to that be the case? best of success in this one. it may properly be troublesome. incredibly if something else of the kin is dropping the towels everywhere they opt for.

The only time I have that problem is when I have left them in the washer to long. I also use gain and it works very well.
Just try not to leave wet clothes to long in the washer.
Also try hanging any wet fabric up to dry instead of in a pile. this also causes mold and the smell if they just sit in a pile.
Gain will get this out. After you wash them, put them in the dryer right away, also make sure they are completely dry before folding them.
Good luck

You have to make sure right when the washing machine stops, to take them out and put them directly in the dryer. If they have been left in the washer and dry a fraction of the time in there, they will have a stench. And you will have to wash them several times (like 5) to get that moldy smell out.
Also run you washer once a month with nothing in it and only add bleach to keep you washer clean.

I have noticed that when I forget about them in the washer for like a day, then dry them, that happens, then its really hard to get that smell out. I use a liquid softner in the washer and a sheet softner in the dryer, and that halps, but I think it will go away after a few washes, just dont firget about them! Also, you can get color safe bleach! Clorox has it I think...

I found out that when that happens most likely your leavin them in the washer too long causing the water to have a moldy stick on your towels.. Or it can be your water? We have Well water so it seems to smell.

I have found that adding a 1/4 to 1/2 cup of vinegar to the wash eliminates this problem. Also I agree that leaving them in the machine and not hanging them properly after each use causes this problem.

you need a water conditoner its you water. you are smelling it after the soap smell wears off.you need to clean the water comming into your house. i do this for a living so i know what im talking about. tap water is nasty and full of a lot of stuff you have no idea about. your clothes and towels are full of soap becase you cant get it out unless your water is soft. dont buty a water softener because it wont take care of that smell. you must have carbon in you outside equipment to deal with smell and chemicals.need more info email me i know it all sister trust me. dont go to sears (those guys are idiots selling that crap).call a local company look in you phone book under water treatment dont call culligan or rainsoft cant trust those freaks either. go to someone that has there own company. you need coconut carbon and if you have chlorimines in your water you need a better carbon than that.

sometimes when towels are wet and thrown in the clothes hamper they tend to get a moldy smell and even after washing them the smell still there. bleach is good but if you have colors try oxy clean.

My towels used to do the same.
I began adding bleach to the white towels and bleach substitute
with the colored towels and the problem has gone away.
