I have heard this is true. I have also heard that there is tension inside the community as well.

I want to hope that any-skinned American has the same chance as all. Don't all people have the same chance to get a scholarship if they do well in schools? I always wanted to know.
I grew up in bad neighborhood in Detroit. When I was old enough, I joined the Army. Through the Army, I went to college. I'm still in and have had different jobs while I was in the National Guard. I am now going to start my own business that I've been thinking about for the last 12 years. I don't see how anyone, no matter what tone or shade their skin is couldn't do the same thing.
The only difference is, I don't get special incentives or 50% of my capital from the small business administration because I'm a white male.

First, let's do away with the political correct term "African American". If you were born in America, then you're American.

If you're black or white, then so be it; be an adult and get over the negative racial interferences.

Now with that aside: let's answer your question....

Any person of color that is strong enough to ignore the negative racial environment, work hard for a high college education and focus on a better life WILL achieve that goal.

But that's the trick, isn't it: IGNORING negatively racist people outside and INSIDE your neighborhood. Better question may be: "Is the black man/woman really their own worst enemy?"

Ah, the age-old light-skinned vs. dark-skinned debate. I certainly think in terms of corporate America that white people are more comfortable dealing with light-skinned people. But other than that we're all in the same freaking boat.

As far as dating - I prefer the deep dark chocolate brothas. Put 'em in the oven... set it for broil and walk away.

Mr. Wizard, you are sooooooooooooooo ignorant it's insane!
Anyways, yes there does happen to be a difference in the way people of different skin colors are treated. Society has a bad habit of placing people in categories due to their financial situations, education, race, sex, skin color, and oh so many other insignificant things.

I have heard that is true among the Latino community as well. That is really sad. I think all people of color are beautiful! :) I'm just plain old white bread and am constantly trying to get a little color to me. :)

Are you kidding me. Only to African American does the tone of our skin matter. To all the others, black is black is black is black.
