I have a one acre lof in Auburn wa. Was thinking about selling off or developing the half that my house is not on and putting a couple of single family homes on it to sell.

Talk to your local zoning board, or to whoever sends you the property tax bill. They would be able to tell you the proper place to go.

you would need to talk to the planning commission and the DHEC in order to do this. ultimately, you will have to pay a surveyor to survey off each lot. don't forget, residents must have access to/from the future homesites, which means you can't landlock them. make sure you have an easement to/from the properties & the road.
