To be precise, the n-word means ignorant in the dictionary. But, it is a mean word and I don't think ANYONE should use it, not even african americans calling it to each other. That is one thing that annoys the crap out of me. It's okay for african americans to call each other that word, but when WHITEY says it, god forbid they're being racist. How come you guys aren't being racist to each other when you call each other that? Is it a term of endearment that's only okay for certain people to use? That word should be abolished, but it won't be. I think that if african americans can use it on each other, why can't caucasion people use it? Huh? Huh? HUH?!?!? Frigging hyporcrites...Lol, I'm not racist, I just think it's stupid how offended african americans get when a white person uses it, yet african americans call each other the n word all the time *sigh*

I agree with you 100 % I am part Cherokee, and in elemetry school I was called a prarie ****** a few times. I didn't even know what it meant until I asked my mother. She had to explain it to me when I was about 7 years old. It is an ugly word. I believe in freedom of speach, but if a word is unexeptible, then it should be unecceptible for everyone. I hate double standerds. Now that I am older, I look more white then Cherokee Indian. And because of this, I have been the subject of racism by black people. It seems that they are able to call me whatever racial term they want to, (cracker, corn fed peckerwood, whitey, etc, etc,) but it is getting to were I can't even use the English language without offending them. I didn't know that "boy" or "son" was considered racial slurs until I joined the army. I think the whole thing is getting rediculous. I don't care if you are Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, whatever, racism is evil in all of its forms. If you can't say it, and I can't say it, but only a small group is allowd to say it, that seems racist to me. I think that if noone would say the "n" word, or any other slurs, then it wouldn't be out there for others to grab onto anyway. Now everyone that reads this will probably label me a racist. but that's ok, because my best friend is black and my girlfriend is the hottest asian girl I have ever seen. I think we should put all racists in a giant football stadium to kill each other off, and let the rest of us live in peace.

I don't think this word should even exist. I can't understand why it is okay for African Americans to use this word. I am not racist either. Love everyone, all colors and races, but this society is still going to have problems with racism no matter what. There's nothing we can do to change ignorant people's minds. It completely disgusts me. I am a white female and I have a friend that is dating an African American. I hate sitting back and watching people stare them down and make comments. When is that ever going to quit???

First off to use to word, you need 2 b educated. Look it up in the dictionary, if WEBSTER says it is what it is and then so b it that is what it is. Nger word and Nga word is a difference. Nger= does not mean BLACK folks. Na= doesn't mean it either, but for some reason yes our african american people mainly men like to use Nga as a slang for each other. If it really doesn't offend them then let them b, but u have to know the difference and when it is being used slangly or incorrectly.

I don't really understand the meaning of the word, all I know is it was used to call african american slaves a long time ago. Since slavery doesn't exist anymore..maybe the "N" word shouldn't either. However, if african americans use that word freely to call other people ( even their friends ) then they shouldn't get offended if white people do!

I am hispanic, and was called that word once because of my dark complexion. I was offended because I knew what it meant. It is ironic that the word has become a "blacks only word", because only blacks can use it on each other without getting offended. Anyone else uses it, and all $%@! breaks loose. It should not be used at all, that way there is no confusion and one less word people use to hurt each other.

Of course any deemed terms that are of ill will should be stricken from the language. And, since that cannot happen, let us be happy to understand the word and all that it implies, such that we hear the word-and run from the Nood-nik that said the word. At least when people speak out, they make themselves known, unlike those that carry concealed weapons; folks using ill fated terms are an easy red flag for me to avoid those people, sonce I cannot change them.

Seriously, I think everyone needs to chill and quit getting their feelings hurt about words. I think racist jokes are funny

I also think religious and dirty jokes are funny too

Life is too short for people to want to hurt one another with some silly words... If someone says mynigga and it was meant for comedic purposes or to call your "home boy", it's no big deal

but I am one to flip out when people purposely hurt others feelings

Please understand that no one gave ANYONE permission to decide who's anigger, chink, wet back, cracker, etc... seriously guys, grow up and stop hurting people's feelings because you're insecure about yourself!

Words are words. Everyone should stop cowering into a corner everytime someone says something that "offends" them. Grow a spine. Who cares what someone says? the words aren't going away, and b!tching about it day in and day out does nothing but fuel the flames.

Redirect your energy into more productive things.

Ir is just a damn word. Idiots get all crazy and try changing things. Who cares. It is wrong to say waiter or waitress now, they are servers. Flight attendant replaced stewardess. If I want to say ******, it is just some insult, no worse that jacka55. If I am in a fight with a white guy and call him names, it is OK. But if I call a gay guy a ******, there is problems. LIGHTEN UP
