How long can sperm survive outside of the human body?
Sperm in the cervical mucus of a woman's vagina can survive for up to six days — possibly seven. Without the cervical mucus to both nourish and protect the sperm, the sperm will die within one-half to four hours. Anyone who has touched semen should wash and dry — or at least wipe off — before touching the vulva or vagina.

Lets see, I remember when I was a wiggling swimmer back in late 84. Some of my fellow bretheren lasted about 2 days while the rest fizzled off around 4 or 5. However, I took a shortcut along the tedious journey and entered what we called the "circle of protection" first.
This is for the swimmers who didnt make it...spills some of my forty ounce on the ground.

It can last up to 6 days if in the right temperature, usually when the woman is ovulating the temperature is perfect for the sperm to live longer in, but if she is not ovulating, it would probably last about 3-4 days. BUT, it only takes one little strong swimmer!

It depends on both how healthy the sperm is and the acidity of the uterus it's in, but the average is 48-72 hours.
