Here's a thought. I am trying to keep my six year old away from the infuence of all things negative, such as the angry hip hop stuff that the rebelious teens like so much today. I don't beat my kid, but I don't hesitate to discipline him. Many parents today, wait way to long to start disciplining there kids. This is part of the problem. And if social services ever interveen because I swatted my kid on the but or made him stand in the courner, then they can kiss my azz. This is also part of the problem. We want to end child abuse, which is awsome, but we are going to far and just ending real disciplin. Many parents just dont want to deal with the kids, so they choose to be ignarant about what is going on. We can't do that. I think we need to go back to having one parent stay home with the kids to teach them respect and moral values. If you stay on top of the discipline from the beggining, and ease up a little at a time when the child is old enough to handle certain responsabilty, and keep the child away from bad infuence such as drugs, and even pot, I think we can take back our children. But the way it is looking, the next few generations of American youth are going to be our downfall. All because lazy parents and pot head parents wont do the right thing.

Early intervention such as raising them in a Christian environment will work. It takes a commitment from both parents. Once they reach their teens, they usually can not be helped. Most boot camp environments are too soft. Sometimes kids die in boot camp. But that's far better that them killing others on the street. They only make matters worse. Only very harsh treatment for long periods will work for some. For most only a lifetime of confinement. That may seem cruel. But once the monster is created, it can not be tamed.

O.K. first off back off. Teens hate it when you get into there lives...now some of the reasons that teens are doing these things is because they feel forsaken, insignifacant, unloved. If you yell at them or order them around then they will most deffinately not listen to you. Just say 'Whatz up?' 'How are you?' 'What's happening?' Those realy mean a lot to them even though they don't show it. Be nice. Ease of a bit, but not to much cuz that could lead to problems.

If parents would emnploy some discipline instead of kissing the kids asses and coddling them, perhaps kids would turn around. With all these teenieboppers having babies left an right... WAY before they are ready... a lot of the kids coming out here are outright BASTARDS.
If they get in trouble with the law, let them spend a few nights in jail to get a taste of what their stupidity is get them if they continue.
Teach values young, respect and manners... it is no that hard.

Teens without structure, adult guidance, and just zip on the calendar have free time. Simple as that. Idle hands. Those from disfunctional homes could use therapy and/or anger management as EARLY as possible.

Head start, better schools, more support for marginal parents.
More community togetherness and neighborhood bonding.
You should go into the profession of trying to make a difference for kids that feel they have no other choices.

Maybe if the parents would control them and discipline them when they should they would learn to respect authority. Too many parents let kids do whatever they want and then they have no respect for authority.
