Seems to me that if you use a song that everybody else does, then you wind up sounding like everybody else. Why not pick a lesser-known song that fits your style and is a song you really enjoy? That'll come through in your performance and help you stand out. Good luck.

Take these wings is a very pretty song. I sang it for contest and got a letter for it. Its meaning is beautiful too. Its a duet, but you can do it as a solo too.
